Today, I was invited by Branchville Elementary School to share my story and paint for their K-2 students.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t have all the students come up and paint with me so the teachers nominated one student from each class whom we could honour for demonstrating kindness. Then we asked the chosen students to join me to draw hearts with their toes using a sharpie pen. The rest of the children joyfully watched as they clapped to the music that was being played.
The hearts that were illustrated by the children were all different, imperfect and unique, just like us. Nobody is perfect, but we are all born with differences that make us special and unique with a greater purpose to come together as one with love and kindness. It is the power of love that unites our hearts together to create a beautiful masterpiece that is more than what you ever expected.
One of my favourite definitions of love goes like this:
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
