whilst taking an evening stroll along the beach with my family, i found this beautiful gem at the beach tonight – maddie, who inspires me with her fearless and pure heart and soul.
she reminds me a lot of my childhood growing up with a physical difference and wanting to feel accepted and understood that i was MORE than what everyone expected me to be.
regardless of whether they are able bodied or not, every child needs to feel accepted and loved just the way they are – that’s why i love how Jesus always welcomed the children and told them the kingdom was there’s. that’s way better than hearing, “the world is your oyster”, right? the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN belongs to them!
watching her catch the waves on her surfboard gave me a sweet reminder of how we should fearlessly ride the waves of our storms in life with courage, joy and gratitude. seeing maddie is like meeting an angel and all my grown-up useless thoughts/worries are instantly taken away and i’m back to being the “nobody can stop me” little rosie that i was when i was a child.
love you @heathhostetter
Matthew 19:13-15 (NIV)
“Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’ When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.”
