the sea is beautiful when the water is still and calm, but it can equally be destructive and deadly when the water becomes rough as the waves of the sea crash into each other.

you see, the sea can represent our lives.

we have moments when everything seems to be going well and then there are times when we are in the midst of a turbulent storm where everything is like a wave of emotions trying to drown us and destroy our spirit and soul.

however, as believers, we have hope in our omnipotent God who can calm the storm and ultimately rescue us.  He is the anchor that keeps us safe; and by having faith and being centred in Christ, He keeps us protected in His truth and He reveals to us that there is beauty in all of His creations.

Mark 4:37-40 (NIV)

“A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?’

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

He said to his disciples, ‘Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?’”

Hebrews 6:19
(NIV)

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
