this may come as a sensitive subject, but is there a bully in your life that you are terrified of?
it doesn’t even have to be a person (or maybe they are so messed up that you don’t want to see them as a person), it could also be temptation, it could be social media or it could even be the voice that tells you, “you’re not good or worthy enough.”
you are overtaken and overwhelmed by FEAR because of this bully.
but how do we handle this?
we are so quick to want to punish the bully. but if this bully manages to create a spiritual stronghold in us, then we end up punishing our own selves. by becoming unforgiving and unloving towards our “bully”, we create a wall that stops us from receiving the love, light and joy that God wants us to receive and experience.
before we point the finger at the bully and play the blame game, let’s stop and think…
what if WE have the power to stop the bullying?
God tells us to pray for our enemies. that doesn’t mean we give into our enemies, but instead He wants us to unleash the true power that can bring light into the darkness, healing over brokenness, restoration over destruction and eternal freedom over slavery to fear; and that is the power of forgiveness!
forgiveness invites a divine intervention, a divine healing and a divine transformation of evil turned into good.
so who is the mean and fat bully that’s making you live in fear?
don’t let that bully take control. pray for the bully in your life and let the ultimate power of all good take control….
just like in the picture below (which i took whilst walking back home with my 4 year old), the wind and the cold can make the leaves fall, decay and die, but the sun will always shine to reveal the truth that there is a bigger picture that they are ultimately a part of – and it’s colourful, beautiful and full of life.
now, let’s allow love to take action and make beauty out of the mess!
Matthew 5:43-44 (NIV)
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…”
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
