i believe God is love and he loves us eternally, but a lot of people including churches have misrepresented him and have pushed people away from God. people are quick to blame God when something bad happens, but don’t realise evil does exist, which is why there is darkness in our world. but why does God allow this to happen? because he has given us the power to open our eyes to see and do something that makes a difference in each other’s lives instead of just living in a cocoon thinking all is good in “my world”.
we, as humans, do not have the capacity to love and understand each other completely and fully and be able to explain everything that happens in this world. haven’t we all had moments when we wished someone could understand and forgive us no matter what the circumstances? someone who could just hug us and tell us everything will be okay?
the truth is, there is someONE who does love and understand us all. he is desperate to rescue us, but waits for our call just because he loves us that much that he gives us freewill and does not want to force us to follow him. he wants it to be our own choice, but his heart aches when we are lost, blind and deaf from hearing his calling for us.
there will always be unanswered questions; and i believe there needs to be questions in order for us to advance as a human race because then what good are we without the power to change the world?
if you are asking yourself these questions, “what is my purpose?”, “who am i?”, “is there a God? a God who knows me?”, “where is God?” or “is God real?” then i dare you to take the challenge to read the bible from beginning to end (even if it takes 9 months like it did for me) with this prayer…
“Dear God, please forgive me for turning away from you. please show me your light; and open my eyes to see you, open my ears to hear your voice and open my heart to receive your love and your truth. in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.”
1 John 4:7-12 (NIV)
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
This is how God showed his love among us: he sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”
