The heart is a vital organ that makes us alive, not just physically, but spiritually as well.
What makes a good heart?
Is it good deeds or doing your best to be good?
Truth is, our human hearts cannot be perfectly good by our own efforts. No matter how much we think we are being “good”, at the end of the day, we are not perfect.
However, in spite of our imperfections, we are loved and because He cares so much about our hearts, God gives us a new heart – a “good heart”- that is alive with Christ’s perfect love.
Does your heart beat with this perfect love?
1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)
“The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart”
Proverbs 4:20-23 (NIV)
“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
