How often do we live our daily lives not saying a meaningful “thank you”? Not just to family and friends, but to the people you don’t even make time to stop and thank…. like the garbage truck guy or the person sweeping the floor at your local grocery store.
Maybe these are the people we need to consciously try to stop and thank before we walk past them and maybe these are the people we need to try and look into their eyes with a smile to make them feel loved and valued.
Because these are the people who help make our day a little better behind the scenes. These are the people who need our love and prayers. And these are the people whose days are made a little better by a simple “Thank you” from us.
Today, I noticed that my garbage truck guy was limping badly so I asked him if he was okay. He told me he fell off his truck and injured his ankle. It was looking all swollen and the guy could barely walk on it. After helping him push our garbage bins to the back of the truck, I got a bandage for him to wrap around his ankle, then offered him ibuprofen with a glass of water and prayed for him.
He left our driveway saying his ankle was feeling a lot better and waved bye to us saying, “God bless you!”
Who will you thank today?
Colossians 3:15-17 (NIV)
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
