One of the greatest things that my parents told me once in my young adulthood, was how the Greek sculpture Venus de Milo would not be considered as one of the world’s most beautiful sculptures if it had full length arms.
This created a beautiful image of myself as God’s sculpture, He designed me this way for a reason, as His masterpiece.
I believe we are all disabled and imperfect in some way, may it be internal, external, physical, mental or something that can be seen or unseen. But we are fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s image and each crack or imperfection in our own masterpiece is there for a beautiful purpose.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
“For we are God’s masterpiece.”
Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalm 139:14 (The Message)
“Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, the days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.”
